A collection of highlights from her life's work. She is very proud and excited to have completed this project and to be able to have this all available in a collectible package.
By Maisy Kay
An inspired overview of music written and recorded by Maisy Kay. Presented in chronological order, this book takes you through that journey. With music videos, live performances and some behind the scenes content to explore.
"Out of my Mind also been a mainstay of Kay's live show: "It's quite an upbeat song and my guitarist, Juan [Juan Andrés Carreño Ariza, a Berklee-graduate who once opened for Maroon 5] and I have a lot of fun performing it on stage," she told us. It's easy to see why: an acoustic guitar line runs through most of the song that brings to mind the more intimate moments of the Paramore discography. Brammer and Argyle bring it to pulsing and popping life with a minimal drumbeat that wouldn't be out of place on one of Pure Heroine's deeper cuts.
Maisy Kay is not your average 16-year-old. The wise-beyond-her-years lyricist who crafts evocative avant pop is a self-taught pianist whose voice effuses theatricality at some moments and tenderness during others. "Enough" showcases the UK-born/LA-based artist's shimmering, mezzo-soprano vocal range and her intimate, confessional lyrics, sending a positive message to her peers as well as herself.
What you have in front of you is, up to this point, my life's work. I am so very proud and excited to have completed this project and to be able to have this all available in one collectible package.
I've listed the contents in chronological order from my most recent material to my earliest. I hope, in doing so, you can walk with me on the journey that has been my musical and creative life since the early days of my childhood. I have included in this book, lyrics to all my songs, audio for most, and music videos, live performances, and behind the scenes content for you to explore. Think of it like a little mini museum of my years on this planet so far. I hope that these lyrics take you to the same places they've taken me and beyond; these songs drill into the recesses of my heart and mine the heartbreak, joy, tears, and drama of my world, and the world around me. I am constantly inspired by art of all kinds, and my emoting and writing is reflexive of that inspiration. In this world, if we can find a little slice of empathy, it can change everything we know. My influences have done this for me and I hope that in some small way, I can do the same for you.
